“Mommy, I love you so much.” These words melt my heart on a daily basis. And the fact that they are usually said out-of-nowhere makes them that much more special. My daughter is something else.
When I was pregnant with Leila I used to dream about what our relationship would be like. At the time it was really hard for me to imagine because I had absolutely no experience with children and no idea as to what kind of parent I would be. However, I did have visions of mommy-daughter dates, lots of shopping and girly time, and lots of love. My reality is blowing any expectations I had about our relationship and who she would be right out of the water.
This girl is something else. She seriously has the kindest heart, the funniest sense of humor, and the most devoted love for me. When the bad days strike and I find myself at the lowest of lows, she has a way of lifting me up. It’s amazing how children are so in tune with our emotions even when we do our best to hide them. On those days, I find her going out of her way to clean her room, eat all the food on her plate, and do funny things to make me laugh. I get all teary eyed just thinking about it. She is so good to me and I don’t know what I did to earn her love, but now I can’t imagine my life without it.
I know that there’s bound to be a day when we don’t like each other very much – a day when we are butting heads over boys, parties, borrowing the car. For now I’m just trying to focus on her innocence and pure, untainted love. I wish I could keep her at this age forever.
Leila and I had so much fun doing a little photoshoot of some ADORABLE clothing from Biscotti & Kate Mack for an upcoming Daily Mom feature. Isn’t she just the cutest little model?
